There is a wealth of information available from both Royal Mail and The Direct Marketing Association’s (DMA) various surveys and reports on the efficacy of direct mail.
Over half of respondents featured in the DMA’s Marketer Email Tracker 2019 report said that post/direct mail was strategically important to their business and this research into customer engagement has shown that post is a trusted medium among both consumers and marketers.
People of all ages respond to mail – digital natives, millennials and older people alike. Mail is tangible and real and 62% of those who respond to direct mail go on to purchase, according to Royal Mail’s The Life Stages of Mail 2016 report. Even after 28 days, 27% of mail was still “live” in a household as stated in the JICMAIL Direct Mail Annual Report “New Currency for Mail” 2018.
