Fruit Bat Marketing were proud sponsors of the Best Sales and Marketing team at the Academic Venues Awards 2019 held at the Victory Service Club near Marble Arch. We had an enjoyable and worthwhile time meeting a range of interesting delegates and learning about emerging trends in the events industry.
Congratulations to all who were nominated and here is the full list of winners including Event Exeter who won Best Sales and Marketing Team. See the winners here.
Some absorbing facts and anecdotes from the key speakers included Caleb Parker of Bold during “The True Value of Free Wi-Fi” panel session stating that “Wi-Fi is ranked up with oxygen for event organisers.”
In his presentation on “The Evolution of Venue Sales” Mike Gwynn former Sales Director of ITE remarked that sales people are operating in a “backdrop of significant change” and “the hardest thing about B2B is that the customer does not need you like they used to.” Sales people have to obtain “consensus across teams” and no longer have to win over just one key decision maker. Prospective clients are looking to “learn something not just buy something.”
Increasing live streaming of conferences to avoid travel by overseas delegates in this era of climate change was mentioned as was “Shout about sustainability”. Fruit Bat Marketing can help you go green with your direct mail from data, print, postage to fulfilment.
Rockaoke where you sing karaoke live on stage with a band was a talking point at our table and we enjoyed a performance of the Greatest Showman by Sorcha Productions before the award winners were announced.
We are looking forward to finding out next year’s nominations and another enjoyable day at the Academic Venue Awards.
